All decked out
in black robes,
like a church choir.

Song being sung
in bass voices,
off key,
fingernails grating
on a chalk board.

Not about equal rights,
about restoring plantations,
antebellum culture
for all fifty states.

Put women back,
in the kitchen,
barefoot and pregnant.

Cis white men,
one black man in whiteface,
deciding control
of women's bodies.

What gives them the right,
the privilege,
the power,
to ban basic rights?

What next?
Revoking same sex marriage.
Removing all rights of trans peoples.
Classifying the gay community
as less than human.

Then,
setting up enclaves,
ghettoes,
concentration camps,
to deal with the evil ones.

A religious autocracy,
based on biblical sharia.
Eye for a eye.
Public stoning,
then,
the final solution.

Time to fight back.
Time is now.
speak up.
Silence is complicity.
Silence is wrong.

Bans off our bodies.
Women's rights are human rights.
Trans rights are human rights.
All peoples deserve human rights.
Use your hammer, your bell, your song.
"All over this land."
